What I Was Doing - May 2026

Updated monthly. This is what I was focused on in May 2026.

Day Job

I’m in the office full time this month — work is finally getting done on the house, but more on that in After Hours. It’s been good to shift gears and get more into the weeds of the internal project. I’m contributing at a deeper level now, which feels right.

I’ve also been getting into graph databases. Gave an internal talk on The Wire mapped onto a graph, which was fun to put together. You can see it at The Wire Graph.

After Hours

Not being at home while the work gets done is taking its toll. I’m happy the work has finally started, but it’s just going on too long now. Ready for it to be finished.

I’ve started on the garden, which is nice. The weather’s been bad though, so you have to pick your times. Getting out there when you can.

My nephews came over at the end of May, so it was good to spend time with them. Nathan finally watched Star Wars with me — a milestone.

I’ve had no motivation to do any development outside of work, and I’m not fighting that. Just enjoying being about, really. I’ll wait until inspiration hits again. No point in forcing it. Sometimes just doing the day job is enough.
